No Light No Light

February 9, 2013 at 6:57 PM

Today was the first day ever since I came to Paris that I do a photoshoot during daytime. Sunlight REALLY makes a difference when it comes to luminosity and exposure. The photos taken were so magical and blog-perfect! So I went with my dear friend Chris to the Sacré-Coeur cathedral on top of the Montmartre hill here in Paris. I’ve mixed and matched a fun look that I’ve been planning on doing for quite sometime. This very dark emerald green jacket I got years ago from Zara has been intact for quite some time now. In other words, it’s the first time I wear it here in Europe.

So the last couple of days have been really stressing for me due to many reasons and I thought maybe a little walk in Montmartre would ease my confusions and give me a certain peace of mind. I always become content whenever I see the sun since it’s one of the essentials that grew with me back in Lebanon where most days were sunny and warm. So this little nostalgia always brings me back to smiles, especially when I’m having hard times. Atop of that, the majesty of the Sacré-Coeur church, bravely standing on the hill with it’s breathtaking architecture and a history packed in one worship place. So here’s what we came up with…

The V in Vanity

January 29, 2013 at 8:07 PM

I haven’t been so well this week because of many issues going on around me. The highlight of the past few days is my father getting me a brand new DSLR Canon camera that I am abusing to an exaggerated degree. I finish my work contract with Tod’s on Wednesday to kick off a new semester at my school. I have been working nonstop with the people from Tod’s, it is really exhausting but I cannot complain about the pay nor the hours… So I invited my friends to sleep over on Saturday so that we can catch up and have a blast like we always do -talking about random useless subjects, eating McDonald’s and counting how many tears we shed when yawning-  and this is what I came up with with my new camera. A story about vanity and materialism’s coexistence, how people are never happy and always aspire for more and never settle for what they have; I hope you get to see that in these two pictures though, because it was really a last minute thing. But the reason I had this idea for a shoot is mainly because of what’s been on my mind for the last couple of weeks. Interesting how I can pour my emotions and PMSs in a post to tweak it into something not so bad! Right?!

In other news, I have been listening to Heart’s A Mess by Gotye nonstop.

5 Givenchy Reasons

January 19, 2013 at 8:50 PM

There’s been something on my mind for a while now. A kind of obsession that I can’t seem to surpass. Ever since I saw the Givenchy Antigona bag few months ago, I cannot seem to get it off of my mind, for real. The bag is surely a must-have for this season but for me it’s more of a need. A very beautiful, minimal bag with a chic geometry and countless colors and textiles. I started whining to my friends of how much I wanted the bag ever since I check it out. Miranda Kerr, Bryanboy and Aimee Song are one of the few fashion elitists that carried it and I cannot wait to put my hands on it – I carry it everytime I see it at Bon Marché or the Givenchy store right across the street of my workplace at Faubourg Saint-Honoré. But seriously I need it in my closet, and now. Here’s why:

1- The Antigona bag is a very elegant bag with minimalist details redefining the concept of purse.

2- It comes in a wide range of breathtaking colors, from pure black to emerald green to dark teal passing by fiery red.

3- Givenchy has also made this bag in many different materials such as goat leather, crocodile, pony hair… Shall I keep citing?

4- It is the perfect size for an everyday bag with a shoulder strap to make the whole process practical because we know we can’t multitask while carrying a $2000 worth precious bag.

5- Crystal-clear Givenchy logo proudly crowning the masterpiece, aaand on top of that it is: Made in Italy.

I would love you forever if you just got an idea about your Valentine’s gift to me, reader.

The Introduction of Tod’s.

January 17, 2013 at 7:49 PM

Ever since 2013 started, I stopped knowing what free time means. First of all, I had my brother and friend coming to Paris to visit me and I devoted three quarters of my time to them and their comfort, the other quarter was spent satisfying my physiological needs such as eating, sleeping and posing. After that, I started working for Tod’s, the Italian luxury brand for leather goods and shoes. They hired me at their Faubourg Saint-Honoré branch as a salesman and style consultant. I wanted to start this job because school doesn’t take off until end of January and I wanted to keep myself busy all whilst being enriched, fashionably. I work full-time and so far the experience has been very overwhelming. Sure, it has its ups and downs but I’ve learned many things either from my coworkers or my own mistakes and it has allowed me to challenge myself and try something new I never had called: ‘an actual job’. So excuse my belonged silence once again, I just felt like I needed to reconnect somehow with my dear online fashion diary and my multiple supporters and readers.

On another matter, fashion month is starting this February and I’m very excited to see the new collections designers are going to showcase in Paris, Milan, London, Berlin and NYC. So I’m going to start something new which is a detailed analysis of some of the collections that I loved and other I disliked. I thought maybe my blog could use more substance fashion-speaking.

This is a quick selfie I took while getting ready for work, just saying haii to all of you!
