What Is It That You Wanna Do?

December 20, 2012 at 9:41 PM

Before I start typing here and there let me wish you happy holidays and may & your loved ones celebrate this season with joy, love and health. I’ve been on vacation for a week now (since my last marketing final last Thursday) but that doesn’t mean I’m sitting there doing nothing while gazing my roof. True, I have a very long vacation but I’m making the best of it here in Paris. I can finally have some time for myself to experiment  even more beauty in this city of lights. And this is exactly what I want to share with you today. When was the last time you did something you loved? Something you’re passionate about? A hobby or a talent you exercised?

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Go out, enjoy your family and celebrate your identity – glamorously, of course.

In my case, this would be catching up on the fashion scene… I’ve been breathing the luxury without really tasting them.  So what I did is pretty simple, I got the French Bible and Elle to catch up on some reading while sipping on Chardonnay. Plus shopping of course.

Posts coming soon with my buyings, Wishlist and the way I spent my holidays!

1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF OBSCENITY

November 27, 2012 at 9:08 PM

The strangest thing in my life just happened to me.

So, I never really knew the exact date I posted my first entry on my blog (which is bizarre, I admit). However, while randomly going through my first posts earlier I figured that I’ve been in the blogosphere for exactly a YEAR now! And it has all happened in an incredible way.

I know nobody likes to read and people prefer photos but here’s a little bit about my story:

I started this blog last November (27th) as an outlet for my creativity and point of views about fashion since I come from a ville where fashion isn’t given any importance. And I was skyping with my dearest cousin Beej (whose been there since the beginning of it all), and she encouraged me to start an online diary to give people a piece of my thoughts. Chose dite, chose faite. After my first post, I started writing numerous entries and posting one every day. The feedback I got from my surroundings and people I never met was amazing. I never knew this opportunity would have this affect on my life if I haven’t written that first post on that cold November evening.

Here comes cheesiness: Thank you all for making Z for Zayd a reality for me and for you, giving it the chance to experiment. I would be writing for myself if it wasn’t for you, my dear readers who made my journey much easier! The opportunities I got, the projects and ideas I’ve developed with other people would be nothing without your constant interest and support for this website. Z for Zayd is only getting bigger and bigger while readers’ numbers are growing, this is just the beginning of it all!

I’m grateful for each and every one of my readers whose feedback is very important to me.

You make me thrive for the good, the better and the best.

May we always speak glamour together…

Absorbing Toxicity

November 26, 2012 at 9:24 PM

I’ve been quiet for some time. This is crystal clear. I’m not going to give any excuse for my longed absence, I shouldn’t have kept you waiting but I’m here now. In Paris. Exploring. Experimenting. Discovering. And a million other thing. I have been thrown into this whirlpool where you only have yourself. I’ve been through so many things these past few months (3 to be precise) and the thing is that I’ve changed a lot. To the better or worse, nobody cares. Parisian society is such a consuming one. Luxury, money and a lot of alcohol are three aims everyone aspire to have. A very rapid lane, time is money [literally]. I’ve came to define this enchanting city:

“Paris is where you find a homeless man sleeping in front of a Cartier store that sells watches for 1.5 million euros each.”

I still do believe in the beauty of Paris, beauty I see everywhere and everyday. Whether it’s the golden fences, flowers appliquéd on Miu Miu bags or simply beautifully trimmed bushes in public parks.

Paris Through 4S

Snapping pictures with my phone while walking across a city so glamorously gorgeous as Paris is really my new thing. I just take out my iPhone and take multiple shots of things I like. And all the images come out crystal clear, miraculously. Here are some of the snapshots showing the best (and occasionally the not-so-best snaps) of la belle ville de Paris.

Abed Mahfouz S/S 2013

October 3, 2012 at 6:44 PM

I’ve been kindly invited to the Abed Mahfouz showroom to observe the new collection for Summer 2013 here in Paris at rue de Marignan. Getting to that location wasn’t a hard task for me to do, once upon arrival I find the delightful CEO of Abed Mahfouz, Hassan, welcoming me warmly and leading me to the showroom that has such  picturesque and spacious ambiance, with the designer who was in the middle of a one-on-one interview. I got what I wanted, the booklet showcasing the collection in my hand and the actual outfits hanging on Abed Mahfouz penderies right beside me.

The collection was mainly a nostalgia-of-summer kind of inspiration, using colored lace with encrusted Swarovski into the garments. The designer has also adopted the pleading technique in some of his work and some sequining here and there. Just the overall palette of the collection was something distinguished. Pale colors varied from tender yellow to wild lavender purple. With some exceptions of floral/fantasy prints and a vivid grassy green! Nonetheless, all the colors and overall looks were nature inspired (you can notice some appliquéed flowers on some dresses).

Another thing that enchanted me was the crystal work on the garments, fusion of two different substances: precious hard metals and flowing smooth textures. Illusional work that I’d give an A to.

All in all,  very elegant and feminine looks to a woman who isn’t afraid of reconnecting with her inner natural beauty in goddess-like dresses signées Abed Mahfouz.
